Feel The STRUCTURES
Fatherhood
Structure might be perceived in many ways. From simplicity to complex perspective, not necessarily defined at first glance. Nonetheless, the structure is driven by fixed laws originated in geometry and regularity of an arrangement of individual elements.
Author seeks to free himself from stereotyped perception of the structures. On the contrary, he aspires to wider, rather distanced perspective. Still, exhibition set contains such stereotyped portrayals. This is caused by author's haphazard fascination with individual fractions that constitute the whole. Exhibition set is certainly influenced by author's previous studies and the environment he has been caught in - you can feel a whiff of a classical industrialization.
As a part of the exhibition, as its superstructure, the set is complemented by an audio layer composed in cooperation with a local artist Jakub Sukdolak. Individual structures are guided by distinctively arranged sounds, enriching the overall impression and experience from the photography. Also, the audio was grasped in its complexity - synthetic and acoustic sounds augmented by sounds of structures' settings.
The photographic series is the opening of a subjective cycle, in which the artist tries to identify with his unexpected role in life. The series of self-portraits reflects the author's feelings during the first year of parenthood with a certain degree of absurdity and humour. The photographs reflect the borderline between dreams and reality in which the author finds himself due to sleep deprivation. What is reality, what is a dream?
The series symbolically opens with an explicit photograph taken on a family holiday. It is the author's exact depiction, where there is a direct confrontation with reality. The subsequent images tend to be more in the dream phase, in which the author describes his feelings in more depth. The last photograph deliberately does not close the series so that the series can continue. The whole series was created in order to help the author cope with the most difficult role in his life.
